The shopping mall was crowded and packed as usual. The flow of shoppers never seemed to have an end. There I was, sitting at my favourite spot, a lovely bench, which was prepared for tired shoppers to take a rest. Holding a cup of steaming Cappucino in hand, I observed the people that passed by and unconsciously, my mind wandered back to 25 years ago... ...

It was a beautiful morning. The lilies, roses and daffodils bloomed beautifully amidst the morning mist. Sunshine greeted my day and I put on my best smile to welcome my 5th birthday.

"Dear, hurry up!"

"Okay. Am coming!"

It was my day. Mommy kept her promise and brought me to the mall. She allowed me to buy anything that I desired. I held her hand tightly and together we shopped in the mall. Teddies, dolls, pretty dresses, dainty shoes. I named it. I got it. It was really an unforgettable day. Contentment and joy filled up my heart and soul.

Soon, both of us were equally exhausted and decided to search for a bench to sit and rest our tired legs. I was then hungry and thirsty, so mommy left me there and promised to get me lunch. She stroked my hair and kissed me on my forehead before she left.

"Be a good girl. Mommy will be back." she promised.

- And so, I sat quietly on the bench, patiently waiting for mommy to return. I waited and waited, but she never came into my sight. One hour... 2 hours... 3... until all the shops were closed and the lights were off, mommy still did not show up.My hunger and thirst were taken over by fear and panic. Tears ran down uncontrollably. I did not know what happened until a policeman took me back to my home, only to find my parents had shifted away. They had left the home. And, me.

Years passed by, no news about my parents was heard and until today, i still love to go back to the same spot, sit on the lovely bench and wait for mommy to return......
